* Site or Community: Site-based programs happen at hosted, supervised locations
(like a school, etc). Community-based programs happen in the community at large and require
a mentor to have reliable transportation (driving record) and willingness to transport a young friend.

** Match Discretion: A mentor and mentee can, as friends, talk about what they would like to
do together. Agencies will have some guild lines for safety and effectiveness. Mentoring is about
doing free or low-cost, fun stuff as friends. Rochester Mentors works to make free, high value
activities more accessible for mentors in all partner programs.

++ EMERGING programs are new and still in the process of meeting the standards of MENTOR –
the national mentoring partnership.
